Youth Services Library Assistant – 18 Hours per week

Hyde County Public Library – Engelhard

The Beaufort Hyde Martin Regional Library is seeking a creative, self-motivated and tech-savvy Youth Services Library Assistant at its Engelhard branch.  The Youth Services Library Assistant plans programs and provides services for children birth through eighteen and their families as well as performs general library services to the public.

Salary: $8.80 per hour, 18 hour per week position.

Benefits: Prorated Sick time.

Qualifications:  High school diploma is required. College experience is preferred.   Prior customer service experience and experience working with young children in childcare institutions, schools, community agencies, volunteer organizations, church or other group situations is highly preferred.

Duties:  The Youth Services Library Assistant plans programs for children and families, including story times and afterschool events.  The library assistant will also provide reference and reader’s advisory to children and parents.  Other job duties include general circulation, shelving, customer service, and promoting programs in the community.  The Youth Services Library Assistant works closely with the Branch Manager to coordinate the annual summer reading program at the Hyde County Public Library.

Employment Requirement: Employment with BHM is contingent upon passing a background check, a drug test and certified through E-Verify.
