The North Carolina Department of Commerce Division of Employment Security (formerly Employment Security Commission) offers job listings, referrals, on-line registration, job searches, state job applications, and online unemployment insurance filings. There is no longer an ESC/DES office locally. The staff from the office on 3rdSt, Washington, NC are now all merged together in our NCWorks Center, in one location at 1385 John Small Ave. The new website for job search and labor market information is www.ncworks.gov. Unemployment is no longer handled in the office. Applicants must file their claim online at www.ncesc.com or they can file their claim or ask questions by calling 1-888-737-0259.
